Comments
Felt inspired to dig a snow pit after a wild Craig Gordon sighting up on the mirror lake highway. Dug on a north aspect lower down off Murdock Mountain at around 10,600 feet. Snow was about 39 cm deep. The bottom 17 cms was weak facets with a weak MF crust on top of it. The crust is probs stronger and more defined on aspects that get more sun. The spot I dug the pit is shaded by Murdock most of the time I think. Between 17-39 cm was newer snow that was sugary and weak (probs from the week of cold clear weather) with two very weak crusts at 26 and 29cm. Pretty weak base for the coming snow. Saw some ski tracks off the shoulder of Murdock. Also the snow was good for snow angels as demonstrated below.
