Climbed S Ridge of Superior and poked around in the snow on the north faces on the descent. HS 30-50cm in many spots, leaving things quite bony just about everywhere. Put a hand in the snow on the NE slope off the summit of Superior, well above the Cardiac Bowl. Managed to find 60cm of snow. Surface Hoar was about 0.5cm in size. Found more surface hoar (0.5-1cm) on other northerlies nearby; even on slopes with afternoon sun this SH seemed to stand up just fine, so concerned it might persist. Below SH was the latest storm snow--mixed forms, decomposing, not really faceting yet. About 15cm down was a fairly firm (1F+?) 2-3cm crust. About 35cm of sugar rested atop 3-5cm basal crust. There were also several natural rock fall incidents down the S face of Superior, for those who might find that relevant to their travels.
