Weather Comments
Broken, mostly cloudy skies paired with mild weather: above freezing temperatures, and a light SW wind for most of the morning. Winds picked up at around 3pm, bringing in dark skies as moderate rain began to fall on all elevations we travelled (up to 8700').

Snow Characteristics Comments

Previous snow was damp and moist to the touch—perfect for making snowballs. The rain that was arriving as our field day was coming to a close will saturate this further. What doesn't melt away will set up well as a base when temperatures drop.

Comments

We found 1-4" of wet, saturated snow can be found on N-facing terrain above 8500', predominantly in open, unforested terrain that we traveled just below 9000'. Above 9000', up to a foot of snow can be found. The large majority of terrain remains snow-free.
