Comments
alta to spruces, skied south/east/north aspects. snowed very hard for 2-3hrs, 6-8in of low density, no noticeable wind but i wasn't on the ridgelines. wx stations show winds picked up a bit later in the afternoon. great skiing on north above ~8500', everything else was bottom feeding.
seemed like good bonding to old surface on the south and east that had crusts. steep norths were sluffing hard on weak surface from the past week. kicked barely a ski length's worth of new snow off into silver fork headwall and it ran all the way to the flats 500ft vertical or so. skied a few steeper shots in hideaway and it was easy to manage.
old surface on the more open slopes was pretty dirty, dust must have blown with pre frontal winds yesterday? didn't notice this as much in the trees today, or at all yesterday morning in the BCC pre-wind.
