Snow Characteristics Comments
Wind effect obvious on west-facing up-slopes, east-facing leeward, north-facing drainages, down low, mid-slope, .... It was easy to find wind evidence. The cold, clear night left a lot of soft snow mixed in to make the turns fun. West-facing between 9,600 feet and 9,000 feet all had a slight wind crust. The east-facing and north-facing that we skied yesterday skied far better today. No heavy snow on the surface, no breaking through buried crusts.

Red Flags Comments
Thin on west-facing despite the elevation. Between 65 cm and 80 cm total depth. A variety of loose grains made up the majority of that depth. Some large loose grains, some dry small sugar. Every hasty pit I dug on the west-facing at this elevation failed on isolation. Not a lot of snow to move, but enough to bury you if you were unlucky.
