Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Trend
Same
Problem #1 Comments
Lots of wind effected snow observed today near ridglines. Upper elevation windward WNW slopes are mostly scoured while SE ridges exhibit conrice growth and windslab. Swirlling winds at mid and lower elevations may have deposited snow on less obvious aspects as well. Cold temps and NSF will lead to wind drifted snow bonding poorly with snow beneath.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Persistent Weak Layer
Trend
Decreasing Danger
Problem #2 Comments
Large dry facets were present on the ground in our pit location. This layer was unreactive in stability tests, however in areas with less snow these basal facets may still be dangerous.
