Comments
The sun was out in the canyon from roughly 800 to 1200, it then got cloudy and very cold. We dug and and dallied and I was suprised that when we skied our first lap the snow had not moistened from the sun by around 1030. We preformed an ECT, but my partner freshmaned into the wall and then I did five wrist taps and then switched to elbow--realized--decided my poor science was extra poor, proceeded and then it popped on "8"-- five from the wrist, three from the elbow just like they teach you. We got a fracture and clean shear and propagetion on the sun crust/new snow interface. Despite the poor science of it, it seemed to move easily andengergetically, my little slab, for how glued on that terrain seemed to be: It was open season for the big boy/girl South facing lines, which I'm sure was glorious, and every upper LCC nooks got a good scrub. The sky was a dark cloudless blue in the morning--fantastic looking down the canyon into the more alpine drainages.
