Comments
Today we dug a pit at about 9200ft on a north northeast aspect we found there to be 115cm of total snow. The CT failed at 21 roughly 57cm on a buried layer of surface hore from the November snow and early December dry spell. We cleared the surface and continued the tes failing at a CT27 on the facets at ground level from October. Both the October and November layers a faceted with a thin crust which is semi supportive. We experienced womping while traveling to and from the pit. The ECT result was a ECTP12 on the same layer as the compression test the new snow is fairly dense and is creating a large slab sitting on the buried surface hore. The column failed with full propagation across this layer and would likely push down to lower layers of facets once triggered.
