So this is the first time I've submitted an obsveration. Feel free to edit or disregard (I think I saw one of your people on the scary side of the ridge digging a pit, so I'm prolly not telling you anything you don't already know, but you gotta start somewhere). I toured up laurel highway, it was snowing fake heavy (feels like its coming down, but not a ton of accumulation) the whole way up (approx 10:15-12:00). There was some lighter wind in spots, and between the two enough accumulation that it wasn't apparent if the skin track I was following was from the previous day or today, until I caught up to the individual who was ahead of me; having stopped to dig a pit. In some of the more open meadow areas the track was completely covered. As I got higher on the ridge, probing with my pole, I noticed there was a small amount of punchiness, all within the new snow, I think in areas that were wind loading. On some smaller slopes I tried stomping but didnt really get much movement. At the top of the run, where the skin track breaks back into the open, the wind was blowing pretty good, seemed to be alot more wind loading. As I moved across towards the skiers left hand side (ridge line that is shared with gold basin) I obvserved some localized collapsing/cracking, but no big collapses, no shooting cracks, just me being fat. Riding down higher up there was enough new snow to obscure all the tree debris that had begun to collect, but not enough to not feel it as I rode over. Down lower it was pretty freakin nice, and overall an improvement in conditions from a couple days ago. By the time I reached the bottom of the run and broke back into the open, the snow had stoped. East coast pow day. :)
