Snow Characteristics Comments
3mm surface hoar was widespread on sheltered terrain up Bunchgrass. On slopes and open meadows that recieve sun, the snow was becoming damp and heavy by the late afternoon.
Comments
I dug in the snow on a NE facing slope at 7700ft. Boot penetration to the ground was a good giveaway of the faceted, weak snow that exists in our snowpack. The early November snow on the ground was still very sugary and weak in this location, and the most recent storm snow has become more weak and faceted as well. Snow depth at this location was 52cm.
