Comments
The snow was unconsolidated all the way to the ground. This makes for more challenging trail breaking and rock skis/sleds etc are advised. I did not observe any slabs or crusts. I did not observe any cracking or whumphing. I observed a lot of wind transport, and very uneven snow distribution largely driven by wind.
I think this layer could become a problem if it doesn't consolidate, but for now, with nothing on top of it, I don't see it doing anything more than sluffing.
I did not travel into heavily wind affected areas or very steep areas, and if I had, I would probably be on the watch for wind slab issues. I visited Trial Lake, Washington Lake, Crystal Lake, Shoestring Lake, and Shallow Lake.
