Comments
Back to the Monitors today, the new snow was light density, barley a breeze and not many signs of wind loading on the ridgeline. I was there last sunday and not a whole lot has change except yesterday's storm. Dropped a few cornices in W Monitor with no results except for loose snow sluffs in the steeper terrain. Then proceeded over to S Monitor and dropped in to the starting zone, no slab, not much of a load and zero avalanche activity. Proceeded to ski it multiple times. The snow structure is poor but you actually need a load and a slab to get avalanches on a weak layer. Saw zero avalanche activity in the terrain I could see which is quite a bit. I might be a little suspicious of the more northerly side of the bowl but it's rocky and not worth the effort There might be more hazard at higher elevations that has been wind loaded but I don't think this storm has put us to the tipping point. The only thing that will increase hazard in the near future is wind loading.
