Comments
For those familiar with access to Deseret Peak, the first gate is closed, but the road is mostly dry to the second gate. Until the first gate is opened, bikes are the recommended way of travel to the snowline. Soft, unsupportable snow below 8,000' but the snow surface became supportable above that. We ascended the east couloir and descended the west couloir, both of which are north-facing. The snow surface had a thin crust, with dry snow underneath. Most snow surfaces were smooth enough, providing decent travel and riding conditions.
We kept to northerly aspects above 9,500' and have no data on solar aspects at the upper elevations other than isothermal below 9,000'.
Excellent coverage up high and West Desert ranges may be interesting options this spring.
