Red Flags
Red Flags Comments
No red flags. Would expect pockety soft and hard shallow slabs of winddrifted snow in the alpine and some wet pushalanches in expected terrain.
Comments
*No chickens noted on Chicken Sh*t Ridge; all no doubt scared off by a mature golden eagle with easily a 6' wingspan patrolling the Reed and Benson ridgeline.
Went to look for snow surfaces ahead of the early week storm. East and some southeast aspects hold a thin layer of facets above a melt-freeze crust (RR). Greg Gagne noted this layering to exist on some westerly aspects. Northerly aspect surfaces have faceted somewhat but it didn't look too bad nor did it sluff in steep terrain. Additional wind, warm temps and cloud cover should continue to degrade these weaknesses...
