Comments
Out in the Taylor Canyon area to see travel conditions and new snow conditions. Dug a pit on a NW aspect at around 7,500 ft and found a thin layer of facets beneath the new snow that has fallen since around the 13/14th of February. Did not notice any instabilities or recent avalanche activity as a result of this layer in the surrounding area, however up higher it may be a different story. Strong winds were at work on the ridgeline hitting southerly slopes and exposed west facing slopes hard.
Great travel conditions and visibility contributed to a good morning. However reaching ridgeline moderate to strong S winds chilled things down. Sunny in the morning turned to clouds however the sun made reappearences every so often, which led to some greenhousing lower down allowing for some minor rollerballing.
