Comments
Some periods of very high snowfall this morning, based on refills in the skin track around 1" an hour even ~7000 ft. Found 10-12" around ~9000 ft, closer to 4-5" around 7000 ft. New snow instabilities were easily observed stepping out of above the track and cracking small sensitive slabs. At one point around ~8000 ft a hard hockey stop on a slight rollover sent a shooting crack 10-15 ft. It wasn't steep enough to go anywhere, but triggering an avalanche on steeper terrain seems easy to do this morning.
It was snowing hard enough to have good visibility, but we perhaps saw the crown from a storm slab on a NNW facing wind loaded steeper bowl around 8500 ft. We weren't able to get close enough to investigate to confirm it was a crown though.
