I hiked with spikes to Circle Awl Peak. Snowshoes would have been helpful as I was post holing in spots. The snow ranged from sun-crusted down low to pristine and creamy above 8k feet. I spoke with a backcountry skier who was getting some nice turns in the pines. He echoed my assessment.
The weather was cloudy with temperatures in the 40's. Winds were light from the SW at 10 mph.
