Weather Comments
While temperatures ranged in the mid-20s F at the trailhead, it was generally a warm day in the sun. The solar aspects at this elevation have felt it lately, and were primarily dirt. The snow stayed cold and dry in the shade. Lovely weather for bushwacking.

Snow Characteristics Comments
Outside of true south, most aspects held a bit of snow that allowed for travel. From the parking lot, surface hoar was large and abundant. In the picture below you can see a crystal which formed at the end of a blade of grass. Faceting from 360°. We found this surface hoar during our entire tour, up to about 8,000'. The snowpack that we saw generally varied from 3-8" of snow, all of which was weak and faceted. Travel on skis was challenging at best, so we did not get much above 8000'. As the elevation increased, it appears the coverage and snow depth does as well.
Widespread surface hoar images.

Red Flags Comments

Comments
Went out to get an idea of coverage for the Provo area mountains, before this weekends storm. There was more widespread coverage than expected, overall anything shaded is holding between 4-8" of weak faceted snow.
