Comments
The basal facets were dry, though I dug in a relatively deep site. In shallower handpits they were not so dry. The surface was not crusted, but there was a slight density inversion, with a thin layer of newly faceted snow above the inversion - this is well represented in my pit.
Travels today began from muddy LCC to upper Cardiff Fork. New snow up high exhibited a slight density inversion, that made turning conditions somewhat difficult for the morning. The snowpack is variable in depth, but generally weak snow was found constantly in hand pits and skin track placement. I dug in a relatively deep site where facets near the ground were dry, though this was not the case in all handpits.
