Travel today was up Mill D North from Spruces to the top of Short Swing for an afternoon ski and to scope out the first punch of the storm. Little to no wind until one reached light wind from the W at the ridge lines. Temps continued to drop throughout the tour. 10" of new snow resting atop breakable punch crush on W and SW and supportable crust on S. The new snow seemed to bond well to old snow in the terrain we traveled and we noted no cracking on small test slopes or other signs of unstable snow. Pretty comical, the aspen riding is getting tricky in places as our incredible snow depth puts riders in mid canopy upon descent.
