Trend
Increasing Danger
Problem #1 Comments
Observed light to moderate blowing snow today. Valley bottom winds were out of the NE, while ridgetops were more westerly. 1-2' deep drifts were noted in more open areas.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
New Snow
Trend
Decreasing Danger
Problem #2 Comments
Storm snow seems to be well bonded to the old snow surface, however, shovel tilt test suggested a weak interface about 20 cm down within the snow from the past week.

Comments
A lower elevation (5,800') NE aspect in Wood Canyon had overall strong snow with some structural concerns. The new snow from this week is resting on a stout MF/Rain crust that is harboring some weak, moist snow about 40 cm down. This weak layer did not produce propagation (ECTN, PSTX) but did produce repeatable sudden fractures with hard loading steps in CTs.
Couldn't see much today, but imagine the effects of wind and new snow are much more prevalant at higher elevations.
