Snow Characteristics Comments
About two inches of light fluff at 8,600', four inches at 9,600' at 10.30 A.M. Alas, can't be a lazy starter in March and expect light powder all day. The greenhousing took some of the lightness off the top, and then the direct sunlight after the clouds parted took a bit more. Still pretty worthwhile turns on the north facing aspects. Some wind crust on the most exposed ridges, but much less than I expected. Climbed back up a south face at 2 P.M., after the clouds filled back in and snowfall resumed, and the south-facing snow wasn't showing too much damage. Would expect decent to good riding conditions on all aspects Tuesday morning, with cloudy and cool conditions helping preserve the goods. Skied a few 35+ degree north-facing slopes at 9,500' and experienced no cracking, sloughing or collapsing. Saw no wind transport today, much in contrast to yesterday. Saw no rollerballs up high, saw just a few on the drive down lower Fairview Canyon.
