Avalanche Problem #1
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Problem #1 Comments
The snow was actually quite well behaved on Broads. There was a fair amount of snow being moved by punishing south winds on the ridges occasionally reaching down to mid slope.
Comments
I snowshoed to the beaver ponds on Broads Friday afternoon. The snow was definitely superb with only a light (sun) crust on southerly facing slopes while descending to the TH.
As mentioned, southerly winds were moving quite a bit of snow especially off of Dromedary, Sunrise, and Twins. It only added to incredible blue skies and superb beauty.
Several parties of skiers skinned up and then skied down Bonkers. Another party headed up the gut towards blue ice as well.
The only avy evidence I observed was on a very steep couloir heading back to the TH. It was small and appeared to be a wet release.
