Comments
275 cm depth at mid-elevation Silver Fork. ECT performed on top 100 cm with no results, ECTX. 1F hardness layer found 115 cm down and even removed snow to test this layer but it was very strong. Felt very good about stability of the snowpack AT MID-ELEVATION WELL BELOW RIDGELINE. Upper elevation ridgelines apparently have more sensitive wind slabs - as an experienced skier got into an accident today. Wind transported snow was noted at 8900' on SE aspect but the new storm snow was not significantly cohesive as a slab. Skied 39 degree slope well below ridgeline and it was phenomenal. Very low density powder.
Arrow at top right of snowpit photo is top of 270cm probe.
