Comments
Dug a pit to ground at approx 8200 feet just below ridge line on N/NE (030) aspect. Slope angle 20 degrees.
Traversing to this area I heard the most minor shift in the snow but did not feel any collapse.
Total snow depth - 150cm. 3xCT producing an average of CTH (23-27). Compete failure to surface which was composed of defined surface hoar. Clean and pronounced. It confirmed the forecast of low likelihood and high consequence. Overall intended ski route was 30 degrees but it did also have at least one (observed) steep rollover about 100' below the top. Decided to skin away and ski a more conservative route back to car.
