Went up days fork and skied a few laps on CSR. We saw two avalanche crowns that appeared to have released naturally during the storm cycle, both in steep terrain under rocky outcroppings. The first was between days draw/lazy days at around 9500. Second below the cliffs in banana belt.
Rode two laps on CSR without any cracking or collapsing. We did, however have active pit results. Two hand pits below 9k on east aspect showed q1/q2 shearing on the new snow/old snow interface. There was a weakness at the interfaces here, possibly grauple but hard to tell for sure.
We dug a formal pit at 9500 on east facing aspect on CSR results as follows:
HS 195
ECTX 16 at 135 cm from ground. This is the maybe graupel layer
ECTP 24 125 cm from ground. This interface was just above the "dirt layer". Assuming new snow/old snow interface. Propagated energetically across the full width of the column.
still have facets at very bottom of the snow pack but they are almost 2 meters deep.
