Objective
Intended to see how well the new snow is bonded to the surface for E aspects in Mill D North Drainage. Ascended via Lee's Fork
Quite deep with this new snow, even for a low angle slope. Shoutout to the party that broke trail, it looked like a real Quad burner.
Assessing the new snow cohesion situation..
I dug a pit @ 8800' on an east facing zone, representative of something that looked like something fun to ride.
I had the expectation of getting no result from ECT. This area is densley treed and is mostly sheltered from the wind. It should be stable!
Result
ECTP 9 on an ECT
- About 23cm (9in) below the new snow - where the knife is placed in the picture.
20cm over 100cm on a PST
-
The potential energy within the snowpack is alive and well.
Plenty of bass when those slabs moved... Makes my car subwoofers look cheap. Made a noise like "Pwomp" and "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt".
Wawaweewa!!! What does all this mean ?!
It won't take much force for the new storm slab to propagate.
