Comments
A gorgeous sunny day above the clouds! An inversion set in around 11 or so, but up high was gorgeous, sunny, and winds were calm. Toured up Butler fork around 10AM (very slick at the bottom!) and found a pretty good crust on solar aspects between 1 and 3cm thick while skinning towards Gobblers. The skin track gave a good view of many parties skiing excellent snow off the east side of Mount Raymond. The skiing was excellent on the North half of the compass. Dug a pit on the west edge of Cabin Run to have a look at the graupel layer and see if there was any rain crust. No rain crust was noted, and the rounds at the bottom of the pack were moist. On steep southerly aspects, some roller balling and small point releases were noticed under small cliffs/rocky outcroppings. The exit of East Butler was by far the most difficult part of the day with icy refrozen tracks to navigate.
