Headed up Cardiff at 1100 to poke around and see what we could get moving, and came away pleasantly surprised. On George's Bowl at least, not only has the new snow bonded well with the old snow, but the upside down layer that was laid down last Friday seems to have been compressed by this new cycle and is now a non-issue. Hasty pits yielded non planar results on the new/old interface, with rounds below. (STH ~30cm↓ BRK) We didnt dig to ground, wanted to go skiing.
At lower elevations while passing Doughnut falls, I noted a slight graupel layer ~10cms down.
Winds were calm all morning, with <20mph gusts noted at ridgeline, and a few light gusts from the north while skiing out Cardiff Road.
From 1230 on, precip shifted from S-1 to S1 with graupel, heavily rimed PP and decomp/frag
photo 1: recent treefall on Cardiff road. I counted over 10 recently fallen trees, with a couple confirmed by tracks to have fallen between 1000 and 1100 this morning
photo 2: moderate westerly wind gusts transporting on the ridgeline at 10,000'
photo 3: W/S test slope results with more propagation propensity in the thicker half of the slab, and slab fracturing in the thinner.
photo 4: loud pow swishy swishy
