Comments
We entered Willow Fork from the Willow Heights Trailhead with just enough snow to travel on skis. Snow depths near the trailhead were 10-30 cm. Travel was easy in open meadows, but we had to carefully navigate downed trees on the forested slopes. The snow surface in open meadows was surfy and not yet damp. Snow depths averaged 30 cm on South and East facing terrain. A pit dug on a North facing slope was closer to 60 cm in an area that saw previous shallow wind loading. Graupel was noted in the pit, but otherwise grains in other layers were rounding. We experienced a stable snowpack all day on a low angle, sheltered tour. I would estimate Low danger today for the terrain we skied.
