Problem #1 Comments
Strong northwest winds today had plenty of snow to move around and create some small isolated wind drifts and slabs, but the terrain is still very limited for travel with lots of exposed rocks. The cover is still quite thin up around the Bald Mt. area, but looks like the landscape will change the next few days with more storms.
Comments
I was a little surprised today to see the terrain up along the Mirror Lake Highway to be still on the thin side. The last storm may have put down 8-10", but not a lot of change in the conditions from last week. I think the last storm really favored the mid-elevation areas around the Whitney/ Chaulk Creek terrain where over a foot of snow fell.
The snow pack is shallow with only a foot and a half roughly, but it is generally right side up and with more snow on the way will only add to a deeper snow pack.
Pretty cool clouds today with the next storm on the way.
