What a beautiful start to our 22-23 winter season. The skiing has been fantastic for October. Stable and supportable snowpack allowing folks to get after it on big slopes in the upper elevations. While that is great for now, let's just not let our guard down this early season as we begin to pile more snow on top of what could be a weak layer on the polar aspects. Do your homework while you're out. Keep an eye on the surface of the snowpack when traveling around, and watch for the Near Surface Facets (NSF) forming and think about what it will be like once buried under more snow.
