Comments
Today was a mixed bag of snow quality and temperature. The sun was in full force with no cooling winds for 35-45 minutes. Within that timeframe along with greenhousing snow on east, west, and south slopes the snow was toast. We did dig a pit on a 30 degree southeast facing slope. The pit showed what we expected--5-6" of fresh snow on top of a 1/2" crust followed by an inch of facets, another crust, then facets as deep as we dig ~3ft. No crazy wet slugs but saw evidence of mild wet slides from earlier in the week. North facing snow was preserved, but sloughed heavily on top of the crust. Not the powder storm we hoped but still good to see some new white stuff.
