Snow Characteristics Comments
South starting to get damp by 12:30 P.M. Will have a crust tomorrow and be unpleasant for skiing. North stayed soft all afternoon. Slightest of wind effect in some locations, too minor to really call it a crust.
Comments
South facing pit at 9,050 feet. 137 cm total depth, surprised to find loose wet granular in the bottom 8 cm. No failure on ECT, but when forced to fail with a shovel tug, it sheared cleanly at 75 cm from ground.
North facing pit at 8,950. 135 cm total depth. About 20cm of loose sugar at the bottom. Not too concerned, given the strong 115 cm above it. Pretty consistent fist/4F/1F/pencil until 20cm from ground.
Surprisingly easy skinning. Wonderful turns on north, east and NW facing.
