Weather Comments
The winds certainly did tell the story today. Moderate to strong winds easily transported snow from the Christmas storm all but stripping it over the past few days from most south and west facing terrain and clearly loading the leeward sides. Occasionally there was a break in the storm and one could see clean crisp transition lines in the snow from windward to leeward slopes. Finding wind sheltered terrain was the name of the game for avoiding wind slab and ensuring you go home with all your digits. We were able to observe wind loading throughout the creek beds and terrain features lower in the drainage where the winds were fierce enough to scour the slopes, but certainly enough to whirl it around.

Red Flags Comments
No major whomphs or collapses noted in our travels today (ie, triggering the PWL). We were able to get cracking and trigger and small 8”. Deep, 10ft wide avalanche of wind drifted snow on a test slope along the mill d north summer hiking trail.

Problem #1 Comments
Small hand pits on the shady side of the compass revealed the weak sugary snow that is still lurking in the basement. I suspect the walls came unglued on many slopes today as the PWL was being testing by some wicked wind loads.

Problem #2 Comments
The wind was honking and clearing striping and loading without discrimination today. Plenty of snow available for transport from the storm over the past couple days. Several days of strong winds have all but scoured exposed slopes.
