Comments
Toured up from snake creek onto green slope, up to pioneer ridge. Overall snowpack felt solid most of the skin up. This is south/slight SE facing between 9-10k.So there was bo snow before the last 2 cycles and no facets observed. Total opposite a few miles south in Big Flats and Ant Knolls which is loaded w facets.
Dug a Pit at 10.2k S aspect. CT results ar 23, ext column test was ECTN24. There was no obvious weak layer that caused the fracture, just a density change about 8" off the ground that was likely the result of the last storm coming in upside down.
Over all slope felt very stable and skied well with no cracks or collapsing.
There was a thin melt freeze crust on some areas of the slope that will likely create a weak layer with upcoming storms.
