Went up from Gaurdsman to check out the snowpack in an area I frequently dig pits. while skining just off the typical skintrack toward a shadded area I heard a loud woompf and felt a collapse. My partner about 25 feet away felt himself drop about an inch. we dug maybe 100 yards away in an area more representative of what we were hoping to ski. we had an ECTN@29 and PST43/100 with a HS of 86. This area saw more sun than where we felt the collapse which makes sense considering the results. all layers of factes showed signs of rounding which is supported by the temperature gradient. We ended up skiing a low angle run that saw significantly more sun than where we felt the collapse.
considering how our test results did not represent an area only 100 yards away with slightly more shade, and how much i really enjoy being alive, im very comfortable sticking to low angle terrain for the forseeable future
