Comments
North facing 8,000 - 8,400 ft winds absent and light fresh orographic snow falling. On the ground blower pow right side up with variable depth 6 - 8 inches in the trees (not enough) and 18-20 in the meadows. No wind around 1530 with light breeze at 1620 just starting to shake loose the treevalanches (8-10 mph). At 8,000 feet and above a 4-6 inch crust sits under the new snow, firm but sugary. Good bonding noted to hand pits and no red flags besides the downed trees. Below 8000 feet just dirt and grass under blower pow. Pretty weird and super dangerous, caught 2 trees with full heal release so watch yourselves out there tomorrow. Open meadows and higher elevations will be the plan. Likely danger will be falling as the snow settles.
