Dug a quick pit in silver fork. Last week's snow is damp and a cohesive wet slab, and in some areas sitting on top of a crust. Got a Q1 shear at this interface. Higher up, the snow was colder and seemed to have bonded better. With a storm coming in this will all change but just a reminder to be heads up for a variety of problems.
