At about 8:00 this morning while the snow in the chute was still cold and dry, our first ski cut in the chute produced a 10 foot shooting crack. The slab didn't move much because the slope wasn't steep enough yet. It looks like it failed on a melt freeze crust about 6 inches down. We turned around and skied back down suicide chute instead so I'm not sure if that was just a little pocket at the top or a problem on that entire run.
