Comments
A pit was dug below the south face of superior at an elevation of 8450ft (approx 100 vertical ft above the road). The pit sees slightly less sun than the south face of superior itself.
Compression test: CTN.
The layer 130cm below the surface failed during further excavation (resistant planar fracture).
A modified propagation saw test was performed due to time constraints. A 30cm wide x 30cm uphill column was used (as opposed to the standard 30cm wide x 100cm uphill). A resistant planar propagation occurred 15 cm in. A photo of the crystal structure of the layer has been attached. It shows the crystals on a 2mm grid.
