Comments
Last couple of days Saturday in Mineral, today in Maybird, looking at the facets down near the ground to see if they are gaining strength and we place a dense, strong slab on top.
Today in Maybird was finding a strong, deep slab on top of 30 cms of facets and depth hoar down near the ground. One one pit with a 135 cm snowpack was getting CT 10-20, failing on a 10 cm layer of weak, cupped depth hoar at the ground. But the 20 cms of facets above this layer were 1F, with plenty of evidence of rounding and sintering.
Photos showing signs of facets that are still evident (these are the square/angular crystals), but also plenty of evidence the facets are slowly turning to rounds and sintering/bonding.
Still need much more data - especially in thinner snowpack areas - but overall seeing positive signs the facets at the ground are gaining strength.
