Took a look at the snowpack at low elevation (~6300) N/NW facing foothills where there was a bit of snow before the storm.
In general, about 85-90cm! of snow, with the top 55 of that being the recent snow. The old snow seemed pretty moist and frozen - mostly large melt forms with a (rain?) crust on top. Seems like we maybe had enough warm storms and rain at this elevation before the latest storm to melt/transform/refreeze any facets that were on shady slopes at this elevation? Total speculation though - could be old faceted snow hiding at this elevation somewhere else, and likely at elevations just a bit higher?
Did an ECT and got no results. Pryed off the block with my shovel after the test and it popped about halfway down in the old snow. Not very cleanly though.
