Problem #1 Comments
Been mainly concerned about the PWL this season. Dug a pit at 9400' E facing 24 deg slope today and found HS 160. Got ECTN25 down about 75 cms on the Dec 20/21 rime/rain layer. Like CBrown mentioned, that layer is shifting to deep PWL. Basal facets were still dry in the location where I dug but had a bit of body/bonding. For what it's worth (not much), I pounded on the ECT several additional steps without notable results. Minimal wind and additional water weight from last night's storm didn't seem to bump the hazard up in the zone. Though, with 10-15" ski pen, there's lots of snow to move around. It'll be a different story considering the winds and additional water forecast with this next round, it'll be game on for wind slabs and deep slabs.

Problem #2 Comments
New snow was fairly well behaved where I traveled, very manageble sloughs in steep terrain compared to yesterday's more slabby conditions. Would've been attention grabbing in more sustained terrain. Luckily the clouds held until later in the day - sun popped out here and there but not quite strong enough to have a major effect on the low density surface snow.
