Comments
Skinned up to Hoyt today from Samak. Wind was fairly calm with light gusting once we gained the ridgeline up to the peak. Visibility was minimal. ~6" of new snow in the upper elevations. Dug our pit around 9600ft on a south/southeast aspect. 80cm total snow. ECTN 13 on a crust layer about 20cm below the new snowfall. Still large facets on the base but didn't have further failure during the ECT. Did not experience any collapsing or see any natural avalanches in the area on our approach. Some wind crust on the ridge line but expected with the westerly winds.
