Weather
Weather Comments
Inverted and cold this morning with 5F at the trailhead despite weather stations in the 20s F. Clear overhead making its way to mackerel sky throughout the day. Winds at low/mid elevation were light, if present at all.
Snow Characteristics
Snow Surface Conditions
Powder
Dense Loose
Snow Characteristics Comments
Snow surface was still generally quite preserved. Surface hoar abounded at lower elevations but largely succumbed to warmer temps and sun as the day wore on. This also began to dampen the powder on solar aspects. Riding conditions were still quite good, but I would expect them to deteriorate a bit in exposed locations over the next day or two.

Recent Avalanches
Red Flags Comments
I expected to see avalanches from the recent storm in the upper elevations and along the Cutler Basin headwall. However, that was not the case. It appears that those tracks ran quite large by Thursday after the Tuesday/Wednesday storm. The snow Friday/Saturday served to fill these tracks back in. I wouldn't be surprised if these become repeaters. I also noted what appeared to be an avalanche on the southern end of the Chilly Peak slabs. Didn't see it in the morning, so assume it went sometime during the day. However, was too far to garner much information other than D2 in size, ENE aspect, in the mid elevation band ca. 7300ft. Picture below.
Comments
Avalanche on the Chilly Peak Slabs.
