Problem #1 Comments
Spent the weekend at Bunchgrass Yurt and noted frequent collapsing on the route up, predominantly in low-angle southeast terrain at elevations above ~7,500ft. We counted approximately 20 audible whumpfs and noted a number of shooting cracks. This kept us off of any steeper terrain for the weekend.
Aside from what we noted on 1/16, we only saw one other small collapse through the rest of the weekend on the way out on 1/18.
Avalanche Problem #2
Problem
Wind Drifted Snow
Problem #2 Comments
Noted sustained transport of snow at upper elevations loading onto east and northeast-facing slopes throughout the day on 1/17. Upper elevation slopes were very wind scoured on 1/18.
