Comments
West facing at 8,600'. Surface was supportable facets, the skiing was fun and predictable. Deadfall not very buried, and could be felt on many turns. Total depth 60 cm. Snow characteristics very similar to Steve and Darce's observation on Solstice at Electric Lake. They were probably about 400' higher, and east facing. Same crust at about 10 cm, very weak facets below, and facets above. Off skis, boot penetration to the ground. But no obvious warning signs, no cracking, collapsing or whoomps. Those who are not reading the forecast or digging even a hasty pit might not know that demons are lurking below.
Very warm and virtually no wind.
