Comments
Colder than Ebenezer Scrooge's black heart out there this morning. Warmed up to a beautiful blue bird day once the sun was out for a few hours. Not even a hint of wind throughout the day. However, I was in the trees all day so take that for what it is worth.
Snow pack is definitely still adjusting to the most recent load. I had about four or five thundering collapses on some of the steeper rolls in Red Pine Trees. The kind that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. One of those collapses was on a due west facing slope which caught me a little bit by surprise because I'm not used to having a PWL on a west aspect . Didn't feel like I needed to get my shovel out to know what was going on below the surface. Plenty of in your face clues that the PWL is still a major concern and not worth messing with.
Didn't get too much of a look into the Maybird drainage, but I couldn't see any evidence of recent avalanches from the last storm.
