Red Flags Comments
Our party observed widespread large collapses in most terrain travelled through, throughout the day. It seemed the dense snow and wind from during the day yesterday really consolidated the surface slab. That said the surface conditions are terrific with light density snow on top from overnight. Moving across the top of a roll we had a slab about 150' wide fracture and slide a couple inches before arresting on the bed surface. Stachwall failure was noted about 200' downslope. This was on 30-35 degree NW facing slope at 9500'. I was able to place my ski pole nearly to the handle into the crack, roughly assessing how far it broke in depth.
